BUJUMBURA November 20th (ABP) – The women’s national football team “Intamba mu Rugamba” won the match last Saturday in Dar-es-Salaam (Tanzania), after defeating the Zanzibar national team (5-0) during the match counting for the competition of the CECAFA Cup (Central and Eastern Council of Africa Football Associations), opposing the national senior women’s football teams of the East Africa countries, according to the Burundi Football Federation (FFB).
The national women’s team is in Group B together with Tanzania, Zanzibar and South Sudan. In another match of the same group, Tanzania defeated South Sudan 9-0. After this first day, the “Intamba mu Rugamba” had 3 points, tied with Tanzania, but occupies the 2nd place behind Tanzania following the difference in goals scored (9 for Tanzania and 5 for Burundi).
“Intamba mu Rugamba played their second game on Monday November 18. They lost to Tanzania, host country of the competition whose matches are held in Dar-es-Salaam.
In addition, seven games were played in Burundi counting for the 14th day of the “Primus League” tournament, according to the FFB. Black Eagle defeated Flambeau of the Center (5-2), while LLBS for Africa lost to Burundi Sport Dynamik (0-1). The Lierres who did not win for a while defeated Olympic Star (2-1). Messager Ngozi and Ngozi City drew 1-1, Musongati FC and Kayanza United drew 0-0, Bujumbura City lost to Vital’O (0-1) and Bumamuru also lost to Inter Star (0-1).
After the 14th day of the Primus League, Messager Ngozi is still leading with 31 points. Flambeau of the Center is the 2nd with 26 points, Bumamuru and Musongati are the 3rd and 4th respectively with the same score of 24 points. Vital’O is 5th with 22 points, Burundi Sport Dynamik is the 6th with 21 points. Black Eagle is in 7th position with 18 points and Inter Star with the same score coming in 8th position.
The second round includes Bujumbura City that occupies the 9th place. Athlético is in 10th place, Olympic Star is 11th, LLBS for Africa is 12th, and all of them have the same score of 15 points. In 13th place comes Rukinzo, Kayanza United in 14th position and Lierres in 15th position. The three teams are tied by 13 points while Ngozi City occupies the bottom of this round with 8 points.
