BUJUMBURA February 20th (ABP) – The Burundi Minister of Human Rights, Social Affairs and Gender, Mr. Martin Nivyabandi, led, in Bujumbura on February 19, 2019, a workshop on the validation of methodological index cards for collecting statistical data in the areas of intervention by his ministry.
The validation process for those index cards, which had been underway for eight months, had not yet been successful because it was necessary to revise them to meet the “methodological criteria required” for statistical data.
Minister Nivyabandi called on participants, including senior executives of his ministry, to ensure that those index cards are the cornerstone of the statistical system within his ministry. He thanked the Director General of the Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies of Burundi (ISTEEBU), Mr. Nicolas Ndayishimiye, for responding to his invitation, so that the executives of the Ministry of Human Rights, Social Affairs and Gender benefit from “his valuable experience” in setting up the statistical system.
Minister Nivyabandi hoped that his ministry would have an effective structure in the preparation and drawing up of the tools for “thoughtful” and “wise” decisions. He recommended that those validated index cards and “planning and management tools by excellence” be widely available before being submitted to ISTEEBU for inclusion in the national statistical system.
