NGOZI March 28th (ABP) – Torrential rain mixed with strong wind and hail caused a lot of damage in the Gatsinda zone of Mwumba commune, Ngozi province (northern Burundi) last weekend.
According to the administrator of the commune, Mr. Emmanuel Ndayizeye, the rain demolished 98 houses including offices of the Gatsinda zones, a community storage shed for harvest, classrooms, and so on. Several shops and stores had their roofs blown away. It also damaged fields of banana, maize and beans.
Communal Administrator Ndayizeye asks the people of Gatsinda to show a spirit of solidarity and to help each other as they can. He also asks for the intervention of the natives and the Ministry in charge of Social Affairs for the rehabilitation of destroyed houses, by providing iron sheets and food to the affected people.
