BUJUMBURA December 18th (ABP) – The Chinese Embassy in Burundi granted the Burundi News Agency (ABP) on Tuesday December 17, 2019, “substantial” logistical support consisting of professional equipment.
That donation consists of 15 cameras, 15 desktop computers, 15 printers and 20 recorders.
In his speech for the occasion, the Chinese Ambassador to Burundi, Mr. Li Changlin, wished, during that “courtesy visit”, that this logistical gift should “be used wisely” in the context of capacity building of ABP journalists, including those from the central editorial office and the agency’s network of provincial correspondents.
He added that China wants the Burundian journalists to participate “actively” in consolidating the visibility of Sino-Burundian cooperation relations. In that context, he continued to say, the Chinese embassy will be involved so that over the next few years, the capacity building of Burundian journalists in China can be further consolidated.
Shortly before, the ABP Director General Nicolas Barajingwa said in his welcoming speech that the ABP is satisfied with that Chinese support given in the pre-electoral period leading to the next elections in 2020.
Mr. Barajingwa took the opportunity to “warmly thank” the Chinese Embassy for that logistical support, details of which can be found in the ABP modernization project.
