BUJUMBURA August 30th (ABP) – The Director General of Communication at the Ministry of Communication and Media (MCM), Mr. Jérôme Ndikuriyo, held in Bujumbura on Wednesday a press briefing on the recruitment process for the fifth promotion of child reporters. He said that after the identification and selection of candidates at the communal level, the MCM in partnership with UNICEF, is pleased with the successes achieved during the sensitization workshops and competitions already organized and thanks all partners for the efforts made in the success of the program.
He said that it will be 36 child reporters and four other children chosen among the winners of previous years will be added, including two from Bujumbura City Council, one from Gitega province and another from Ngozi province, to make a total of 40 child reporters of the 2019 promotion. He took the opportunity to announce that each child will be accompanied by one of his parents or guardian of their choice, adding that the round-trip fare will be given back to them, while the cost of stay will be the matter of the organizers.According to Mr. Ndikuriyo, the selection at the national level is set on Friday August 31, 2018 and the preselected children at the communal level across the country will meet at the headquarters of Gitega province (center) to pass the last qualifying test which will begin at 9 am at the Rehoboth Hotel. At the end of the test, two children, a girl and a boy from each province will be selected for a training that will start next year, he added.
Mr. Ndikuriyo asked the participants to arrive on Thursday August 30, 2018 in the afternoon at the Rehoboth Hotel in Gitega, stating that those who do not know this meeting place will be welcomed by a team at the scene arrival in the car parks before transporting them to that hotel.
