BUJUMBURA March 6th (ABP) – The Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Permanent Forum for Dialogue of Political Parties Approved in Burundi (FDP), Mr. Félicien Nduwuburundi, announced on Tuesday March 5, 2019, in a meeting with representatives of political parties, that a Canadian non-governmental organization called Dynamique for Peace, Security and Development (ZOOM DPSD) has promised to fund the mentoring of youth affiliated or not affiliated with political parties.
The objective is to develop skills to promote a culture of peace, social cohesion and community harmony among young people, in particular to develop openness, mutual acceptance and inclusion to live together, and ‘encourage deep respect for human rights,’ Mr. Nduwuburundi said. According to the FDP chairman, ZOOM DPSD will soon dispatch a technical team that will study, together with the technical team of the FDP, the contours of that program and the modalities of its implementation.
He recalled that the main lines of action of that forum are based on four axes, namely the strengthening of the political party system, the permanent dialogue on national issues, participation in the improvement of the electoral process, regional integration and cooperation. Mr. Nduwuburundi indicated that he would find no problem working with the NGO ZOOM DPSD whose objectives are consistent with those of the FDP.
Political party representatives suggested that the training be done in two groups, namely youth affiliated with political parties and non-political party affiliates, for a good understanding.
