BUJUMBURA March 26th (ABP) – The general directorate of the Higher Normal School (ENS) issued a statement on March 20, 2018, stating that it has been organizing since that year a university teacher training program which will begin on Monday April 16, 2018.
According to the statement, that institution has organized this program with the aim of promoting excellence through the development and further training of teachers in the basic and post-basic levels, as it is one of the components of its core mission. The said statement states that two categories of university graduates are concerned by this training. Those are holders of Bachelor degree or university graduates who have not received an educational preparation and who wish to engage in the teaching career, as well as holders of bachelor degree or university graduates, teachers who have not received initial training for teaching purposes. Registration for candidates interested in this training will take place from April 2 to 6, 2018, in ENS premises from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.
The same statement continues to specify that the conditions required to be admitted to this training include the fact of having signed an act of commitment not to claim any bonus to the Public Service, especially for the second category. The tuition fees are 350,000 BIF, including registration tuition fees of 50,000 BIF.
In accordance with the instructions by the Ministry of Education, the possession of the certificate of educational qualification granted after the training will be a condition to apply for teacher position. For the category of teacher-in-service graduates who have not had any pedagogical training, the certificate of qualification will be required to hold a position of responsibility as provincial director of education, communal director, school director, and the like.
