KIRUNDO July 27th (ABP) – The unidentified perpetrators broke into the Catholic Church of Kanyinya in Kirundo commune and province (north) in the night of July 24, 2018 and demolished the tabernacle, they stole the ciboria containing holy sacrament and other sacred objects, said the parish priest of Kanyinya, Father Boniface Nzohabonayo.
According to him, the demolished tabernacle was found in the bush which is very close to the church. Father Boniface said that the perpetrator is not yet known, adding that the police are looking for him to be apprehended. As we have desecrated the church, as it was disclosed, it must be closed until the bishop comes to perform a rite to bless it again. The parish priest of Kanyinya asks everyone to respect the house of the Lord, to also respect the blessed and sacred things.
