MAKAMBA February 11th (ABP) – The governor of Makamba province (southern Burundi), Mr. Gad Niyukuri, organized on Wednesday, field trips in different communes. On Wednesday and Thursday, he visited the Nyanza-Lac and Mabanda communes where he reminded village leaders and service heads to improve peace and security, a check on the site by ABP has revealed. Mr. Niyukuri especially asked the village leaders to check the household notebooks and to fight against the prohibited drinks. Also, he said, joint security committees need to be revitalized in all public places.
Governor Niyukuri called on leaders of religious denominations and political parties to encourage their followers to live together peacefully and help each other, as they are all Burundians. They will also have to sensitize them to participate in the self-financing and community development works, such as tracing tracks and contour lines and other activities organized by the administrative officials of their localities. He finally asked the heads of services to raise awareness about the fight against fraud, collaborate with the Burundi Revenue Authority (OBR) and the Burundi Mines and Quarries Authority (OBM) to increase taxes in the public treasury, without forgetting to train and encourage the people to join the cooperatives for their self-financing.
