BUJUMBURA April 26th (ABP) – The Minister of Youth, Posts and Information Technologies, Ms. Evelyne Butoyi, paid on Tuesday April 23, 2018 at the BRB, on behalf of the staff of the former Ministry of Posts, ICTs and Media (PTICM), a sum of 21 million BIF as a contribution to the 2020 elections, a check by ABP revealed.
In fact, Burundi’s Head of State Pierre Nkurunziza reshuffled on Thursday April 19th, his government with five new Ministers and four departures. The number of Ministries increased from 20 to 21. In this reshuffle, the Ministry of Posts, ICTs and Media headed by Mr. Nestor Bankumukunzi was split in two, including the Ministry of Communication and Media which was entrusted to Ir. Serges Ndayiragije. The Post and Information Technology departments were joined to the Youth department to form the Ministry of Youth, Posts and Information Technologies and Communication, which was entrusted to Ms. Butoyi. The latter pointed out that the said Ministry had collected a sum of 21,509,450 BIF for the contribution to the 2020 elections. She further indicated that among the emergency files was actually the deposit of that contribution from the staff of that Ministry that is added to another monthly contribution.
