GITEGA October 2nd (ABP) – The President of the Republic of Burundi, Mr. Pierre Nkurunziza, has been chairing since Tuesday, October 1, 2019, at the Presidential Palace of Gitega (central Burundi), the two-day Cabinet meeting with 13 items on the agenda, including strategies for recovery, revitalization and sustainability of the coffee sector.
The first item, presented by the Minister of Public Security and Disaster Management, is related to the bill on ratification by the Republic of Burundi of the security cooperation agreement between the Government of the Republic of Burundi and the Government of Turkey.
The 2nd and 3rd items, presented by the Minister of National Defense and Veterans Affairs, concern respectively the agreement bill on military and technical cooperation between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Burundi, and the decree bill on the reorganization of the Military Construction Authority (RMC).
The fourth item concerns the bill on the Rules of Procedure of the Board of Directors of the Burundi Urban Planning, Housing and Construction Authority (OBUHA), while the fifth item relates to the bill of OBUHA Business Rules. The 6th item is the bill on the OBUHA Conduct and Professional Ethics Code, while the 7th item is the joint ministerial ordinance bill on the management of staff from merged structures not taken over by OBUHA. As for the 8th and 9th items, they relate respectively to the specifications of the heads of the OBUHA departments and the ministerial ordinance bill establishing the institution, regulation and structure of tolls-weighing tariffs of cars circulating on the territory of Burundi. Those last six items (from 4th to 9th) were presented by the Minister of Transport, Public Works, Equipment and Spatial Planning.
The 10th item, presented by the Minister of the Environment, Agriculture and Livestock, concerns strategies for recovery, revitalization and sustainability of the coffee sector.
The 11th item, which concerns the joint ministerial ordinance bill revising the joint ministerial ordinance number 550/540/2306 of December 30, 2016 modifying tariffs of duties and taxes applied to the Ministry of Justice, Civil Protection and Seals Control, was to be presented the Minister in charge of Justice. The same authority had to present the 12th item regarding the joint ministerial ordinance bill setting tariffs and duties applied by the Land Title Deeds Authority.
On the agenda of that Cabinet meeting, it is expected to discuss the miscellaneous.
