BUJUMBURA February 20th (ABP) – Burundi President Pierre Nkurunziza received in audience in Bujumbura on Tuesday February 19, 2019, a delegation of Sudanese businessmen and researchers visiting Burundi for exploring investment opportunities in Burundi.
The head of the delegation, Dr. Abdalbagi Gailani Ahmed, told the press that their meeting with President Nkurunziza focused on their plans to invest in Burundi, including a project to develop maritime transport and fishing on Lake Tanganyika, and a ground transportation project with spacious buses that can carry a lot of people at a time.
Those businessmen also plan, according to Dr. Ahmed, to invest in the mining sector by creating a mining section at the university and by promoting exchange of experiences between the universities of Sudan and those of Burundi. They said they were reassured by President Nkurunziza that Burundi is a country that has a lot of resources and where there is peace and security.
According to the spokesman of the President of the Republic, Mr. Jean Claude Karerwa Ndenzako, the Burundi Head of State recommended those Sudanese investors to refer each time to the Burundi national development plan.
Shortly before the presidential audience, the delegation of Sudanese businessmen and researchers was received by the first Deputy President of the Republic, Mr. Gaston Sindimwo.
