NGOZI July 8th (ABP) – The presidential family proceeded on Saturday to the gathering of potatoes from their fields in Rutanga village of the Ngoma Zone in Gashikanwa Commune. The harvest concerned two varieties namely “ndindamagara” on one hectare and Victoria on half a hectare.
The President of the Republic thanked the Almighty who answered the prayers that were said during the sowing and gave the country an exceptional harvest. He prayed the Almighty to continue to bless the Burundians.
According to the Head of State, this season’s harvest has been good. He gave the example of potatoes in his fields where a single unit gives between 20 and 30 pieces. The harvest has been multiplied by 20, according to President Nkurunziza. He appealed to the people to jealously keep the harvest. He also urged people to invest in agriculture to become a source of household income and foreign exchange for the country.
For this season, farmers will have to cultivate marshes or irrigate fields outside the marshes. The Head of State also visited his akajia pea fields located in the same village of Rutanga.
