BUJUMBURA September 19th (ABP) – The new Minister of Communication and Media, and the seven members of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) were sworn in at the Kigobe Congress House on Tuesday September 8, 2018, in the presence of President of the Republic of Burundi, parliamentarians as well as some members of the diplomatic corps, a check on the site by ABP has revealed.
He pledged to defend higher interests of the nation, to promote the unity and cohesion of the Burundian people, peace and social justice in the performance of the service entrusted to him. He continued his commitment by saying that he is ready to fight against any ideology and practice of genocide and exclusion, to promote and defend the rights and freedoms of the person and the citizen.”Before the Almighty God, the President of the Republic and the Parliament, I, Fréderic Nahimana, Minister of Communication and Media, I swear fidelity to the charter of national unity, the constitution and the law”, these are the words spoken by the new Minister of Communications in his swearing.
The new members of the CENI, namely Pierre Claver Kazihise, Annonciate Niyonkuru, Philippe Nzobonariba, Serges Ndayiragije, Anastase Hicuburundi, Hyacinthe Niyonzima and Marguerite Kamana have, in their swearing in front of the President of the Republic and Parliament, swore fidelity to the charter of national unity, the constitution and the law. They pledged to hold the elections with complete independence, probity, impartiality and a strong sense of patriotism.
