BUBANZA December 11th (ABP) – The President of the Republic of Burundi, Mr. Pierre Nkurunziza, enhanced with his presence on Monday, December 10, 2019, the swearing-in ceremonies of the officers of the 3rd promotion, the final incorporation of the officer candidates of the 4th promotion and the opening of the academic year, 2019-2020 year, at the Higher Institute of Police (ISP) located in Mitakataka, Bubanza commune and province (north-west of Burundi), a check on the site by ABP has revealed.
Those officers, laureates of the 3rd promotion, were 60 and 2 chaplains and were sworn in before the President of the Republic. They swore to respect the orders of the President of the Republic of Burundi, the prescription of the Charter of the national unity and to perform their duties properly in accordance with the Constitution and the laws and regulations of the Republic of Burundi. The final incorporation involved 114 on-site officer candidates and six who are studying abroad.
In his occasional address, the President of the Republic of Burundi, Mr. Pierre Nkurunziza advised them to be exemplary leaders who work in compliance with the law. “Let them be officers who use their knowledge and techniques for ensuring security and peace-building, protecting Burundians and foreigners and their property, and safeguarding the country’s independence” added the President of the Republic.
He also urged them to always have a patriotic spirit, while knowing that their homeland remains unequaled, to remain credible everywhere, to avoid betraying their country, to be good heirs of their ancestors who fought for existence of Burundi today, while having the lion’s behavior, which is on the national emblem. The President of the Republic also asked them to give first place to God, the Almighty, in their daily lives.
As for the Director of the Higher Institute of Police (ISP), he asked the Head of State for support for the extension of the premises, which do not currently exceed the capacity of 60 people, for the construction of the library, the playgrounds and the rehabilitation of the road leading to that Institute. Replying to the request, the President of the Republic and the Minister responsible for security promised to give their support.
Note that since the existence of the Higher Institute of Police, 1,443 laureates have already completed their studies, including 1,365 men, 78 women and 9 chaplains.
