BUBANZA November 14th (ABP) – “He who seeks eternal life will have to sacrifice himself for others and for his country”, this was disclosed during the opening of the week of the fighter, which took place in Mpanda commune of Bubanza province (northwestern Burundi) on Wednesday November 13. Those festivities took place in Gifugwe village of Mpanda Commune, where 14 former FDD fighters were buried, who died on the battlefield.
In his speech, CNDD-FDD party secretary-general Evariste Ndayishimiye who had enhanced the festivities with his presence, said that this week will be an opportunity to commemorate heroes who have sacrificed themselves for the well-being of their peers and their homeland. He said that currently, all Burundians enjoy the fruits of this struggle by these missing victims.
Mr. Ndayishimiye asked that this week be an opportunity for introspection and a moment to think about cutting short with the divisive powers which, according to him, were at the origin of the bloody crises that Burundi has undergone. He therefore asks Burundians to prepare, with the upcoming elections, to set up a unifying power, which works in the general interest of all. He also asks them to always prioritize, consolidate peace and democracy.
Note that the President of the Burundi Senate, the ombudsman and other ruling party officials were present there. Festivities began with a mass in memory of the missing fighters and the laying of wreaths at the graves of some victims buried in Gifugwe village of Mpanda commune.
