BUJUMBURA November 20th (ABP) – The achievements of Burundi’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the first quarter of fiscal year 2019-2020 are satisfactory, despite the difficulties encountered, said Ambassador Ezekiel Nibigira and Burundi Minister of Foreign Affairs, during a news conference he held in Bujumbura on Monday.
He said that these achievements are articulated on four main points namely: the strengthening of the bilateral and multilateral cooperation with the partners of the government, the strengthening of the diplomatic communication, the consolidation of the strategic partnership with the Burundian diaspora as well as the continuation of the routine activities by the central administration.
With regard to strengthening cooperation with partners, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs continued to participate in statutory meetings and conferences of sub-regional, regional and international organizations. With regard to strengthening diplomatic communication, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs granted 39 hearings to bilateral and multilateral partners during the first quarter of the current year to discuss issues of common interest.
Regarding the consolidation of the strategic partnership with the Burundian diaspora, Minister Nibigira was able to collect data on projects carried out by the Burundian diaspora (2019 edition) organized from 22 to 26 July 2019.
Finally, on the list of routine activities, Burundi benefited from international partners, 37 university scholarships and 75 internships, thanks to the negotiations supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
