BUJUMBURA July 6th (ABP) – A man by the name of Omar Saidi, of Tanzanian nationality, was arrested at the Bujumbura Melchior Ndadaye International Airport on Tuesday July 2, with drugs inside his belly, while traveling to the Republic of South Africa via Adis-Abeba in Ethiopia. The spokesman of the Ministry in charge of Public Security, Commissioner Pierre Nkurikiye, showed him on Thursday to the reporters, a check on the site by ABP has revealed.
Mr. Omar Saidi had already revealed to the police that he had in his stomach a kilogram of cocaine that he was going to sell at 50,000 US dollars, once he arrived in South Africa.
Until noon, local time, Mr. Omar had already ejected 41 balls of cocaine through the anus.
Commissioner Nkurikiye told the press that drug trafficking is a reality in Burundi. He added that the Burundi National Police is sufficiently equipped to combat that kind of trafficking. That police authority urged the people to alert the police as soon as possible, whenever they see a person suspected of being involved in that kind of trafficking, for them to be sanctioned in accordance with to the law.
