KIRUNDO March 18th (ABP) – A person known as Nestor Ndaruzaniye was found strangled but still alive, in Gatete village of Busoni commune in Kirundo province (northern Burundi) on Thursday March 14, 2019, according to administrative sources.
According to the governor of the Kirundo province, Mr. Alain Tribert Mutabazi, the victim was previously expelled from Rwanda but later returned to that country on March 10, 2019 to visit his wife and children who were not expelled. The man in his forties was reportedly apprehended by Rwanda soldiers who would have strangled him and thrown him into the bush on the Burundian-Rwandan border, thinking that he was no more. He was found by the surrounding people at the crime scene and was taken to Kirundo Health District Hospital for treatment.
Governor Mutabazi calls on the people of Kirundo province to travel through the legal channels passing through the customs offices to present the required documents, instead of going through clandestine channels. He asks those who have been expelled from Rwanda to no longer think of going back to Rwanda, because this country does not need them, he insisted. Instead, he invites them to work to develop their country of origin.
