BUJUMBURA October 15th (ABP) – The Burundians celebrated on Saturday October 13, 2018 the 57th anniversary of the assassination of the hero of independence of the country Prince Louis Rwagasore, a check by ABP revealed.
In Bujumbura City Council, the capital of the country, the ceremonies were enhanced by the Head of State, Mr. Pierre Nkurunziza with his wife.
The 1st Deputy President of the Republic Mr. Gaston Sindimwo, the 2nd Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Ms. Jocky Chantal Nkurunziza, former Head of State Sylvestre Ntibantunganya and other senior executives of the country also attended those ceremonies. Ambassadors accredited to Bujumbura and representatives of approved political parties in Burundi were also present.
For Bishop Banshimiyubusa, the day must leave something important in the life of all Burundians and in the life of the whole country. He asked Burundians to live righteously because, according to him, he who lives in righteousness, even if he dies, he will live in peace.The ceremonies began with a Mass celebrated at the Cathedral of Bujumbura where Archbishop Gervais Banshimiyubusa, in his homily, indicated that the country must remember the late Rwagasore because he himself believed in God, adding that the day is an opportunity to pray for him but also to pray for the country so that Burundi remains in stable peace and has sustainable development.
According to the Archbishop of Bujumbura, Prince Louis Rwagasore is a worthy man. He and his compatriots fought for the independence of his country while he lacked nothing because he was the son of the king, he said. In other words, he did that because he had a great love for his homeland, said Bishop Banshimiyubusa.
That servant of God also called on the rulers of the country to serve others because, according to him, a good leader is one who accepts to be a servant of others. He also called on politicians to be visionaries and to work for all without distinction, taking into account the past in order to prepare a good future.
The ceremonies continued at the mausoleum of the Independence hero where there was a wreath laying on the tomb of Prince Louis Rwagasore by the presidential couple, followed by the various delegations beginning with the ambassadors accredited to Bujumbura , then the family of Prince Rwagasore, the political parties approved in Burundi as well as the collective of the opposition parties.
They ended by listening to the speech made by Louis Rwagasore on September 20, 1961, just two days after the victory of his Uprona party.
In Makamba province, the people participated in the ceremonies of the 57th anniversary of the assassination of Prince Louis Rwagasore, which took place in Makamba commune in the presence of Makamba governor Gad Niyukuri.
After mass, the representation of the provincial and communal administration, the defense and security forces, the servants of God, the representatives of political parties such as the CNDD-FDD, the UPRONA, Sahwanya FRODEBU, Sahwanya FRODEBU Nyakuri iragi rya Ndadaye and RANAC laid the wreaths on the unity monument.
Governor Niyukuri asked the people to maintain their fields. Each family will have to develop a self-financing project. He also asked them to continue to contribute for the 2020 elections while young people will have to develop a sense of patriotism.
In Ngozi province, the commemoration of the 57th anniversary of the assassination of Prince Louis Rwagasore saw a great popular participation at the provincial headquarters. It was attended by the Minister of Finance, Mr. Domitien Ndihokubwayo.
After a Mass at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral of Ngozi, they continued to the monument of national heroes located in front of the Ngozi commune. Six wreaths of flowers were successively laid by the governor, the administrator of Ngozi commune, and the leaders of the parties like CNDD-FDD, the UPRONA, APDR and RANAC.
The participants listened to the speech made by Prince Louis Rwagasore during the victory of the UPRONA Party on September 18, 1961.
In Bururi province, the people participated in the commemoration ceremonies. The ceremonies began with a Eucharistic celebration at the Queen Mary Cathedral in Bururi. The ceremonies were then held at the Independence Monument where wreaths were laid by the administration, the CNDD FDD, UPRONA, SAHWANYA-FRODEBU, RANAC, and FRODEBU Nyakuri parties.
In his speech, the governor of Bururi province, Mr. Frédéric Niyonzima, recalled them to keep peace and security, sources of development. He warned the breeders on the phenomenon of the bush fires.
In Kirundo Province, after Mass celebrated at the Kanyinya Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, ceremonies continued at the monument of independence where the administration, the justice, the police, the political parties and the Catholic Church laid wreaths, on-the-spot check by ABP has revealed.
They were chaired by the governor of that province, Mr. Alain Tribert Mutabazi. Those present listened to the speech of Prince Louis Rwagasore, delivered during the victory of the UPRONA party on 18th September 1961.
In his speech, Governor Mutabazi asked everyone to become a hero in their works.
