BUJUMBURA December 19th (ABP) – The Burundi Head of State, Mr. Pierre Nkurunziza, held a security assessment meeting with all security officials of the country in the Ntare Rushatsi State House on Wednesday December 18, 2019.
According to the deputy spokesperson of the President of the Republic, Mr. Alain Diomède Nzeyimana, security officials have, during this assessment which is done every 45 days, found that the security situation is generally good.
Participants reported that crimes related to land disputes have decreased by 30%, while suicide cases have increased. Other situations that have resulted in mortalities are traffic accidents, they said, deploring the human and material damage caused by torrential rain.
The Head of State advised to draw contour lines on the hills to limit landslides. He also invited security officials to participate in works to preserve the environment as part of the “Ewe Burundi urambaye” program in order to limit flooding. President Nkurunziza congratulated them on the fact that the budget forecasts for the elections have already reached 90%.
He wished everyone a happy Christmas and gave them a score of 97%, which is similar to that given at the last meeting held in Mubimbi. He asked them to double their efforts during this end-of-year period as we are drawing near to the 2020 elections.
