RUTANA January 17th  (ABP) – As part of the promotion of agro-pastoral production chains, a workshop was held from Tuesday to Wednesday in the headquarters of the Rutana province to support the establishment a provincial inter-professional platform for the milk sector (Pinlait) in order to better structure that sector.

Organized by the National Program for Food Security and Development of the natural Regions of Imbo and Mosso (PNSADR-IM), that workshop allowed participants to be informed about what Pinlait is, its organization and its way of working and the experience of other countries in that sector of milk production and marketing.

The Pinlait’s specific missions are to facilitate consultation between professionals in the milk sector on common concerns, develop and implement the contractual approach between professionals, set up organizational bases for the professions concerned by the sector and finally arbitrate between professions and promote transparency in relations.

The platform also has the mission of promoting the quality of milk by setting up organizational bases for professionals, by carrying out certain pilot actions to promote quality and by controlling some of the milk collection centers, assisting and supporting them as well as by building up a quality benchmark.

For the PNSADR-IM, Mr. Rénovat Ngendakuriyo, who works in the value-added sector, normally, no liter of milk should be sold or consumed in cafeterias without going through the circuit of collection centers and cooperatives marketing. The reason why he recommended the use of 4 P in the sale of milk, namely Product, Place, Price and Promotion.
