BUJUMBURA March 20th (ABP) – Burundi President Pierre Nkurunziza received in audience on Tuesday morning a delegation from the Merck Foundation led by its chairperson Frank Stangenberg-Haverkamp.
According to the spokesman of the President, Mr. Jean Claude Ndenzako Karerwa, the Merck Foundation is a philanthropic foundation working in the field of health. It came to support the activities of the first Lady through the Buntu Foundation, including supporting infertile women against stigma.
It will also support the government in the fight against cancer and diabetes-related diseases, by building the capacity among Burundi doctors to enable them to treat them here in Burundi, and thus, this will help ease the burden of families that have so far had to support health care abroad in case of such diseases.
