BUJUMBURA July 2nd (ABP) – Burundi Minister of Justice, Civic Protection and Seals Control, Ms. Aimee Laurentine Kanyana, closed on Friday the training on Commercial Justice for judges, State lawyers and other executives of the central administration in the said Ministry.
With the support of the Association of Banks and Financial Institutions (ABEF), 12 sessions were organized during the period 2018-2019 for 114 judges of the Supreme Court, the Special Court of Land and other Property, the Anti-Corruption Court, the three Courts of Appeal of the Bujumbura City, the Commercial Court, as well as State lawyers and executives of the central administration of the Ministry of Justice.
According to Minister Kanyana, the training is part of the overall framework of efforts to improve the business climate in Burundi and for the security of national and international investments. She believes that this capacity building of human resources will produce significant changes in their professional environment as magistrates, lawyers, inspectors of justice and legal advisers.
She hopes they will make quality decisions within a reasonable time. Thanks to this acquisition of knowledge in general commercial law, company law, banking law and transport law, there will be a reduction in the time taken to process commercial cases, the number of cases of misjudgment or poor application of the law, she said. According to her, not all the issues relating to commercial justice have been taught. She therefore asked the ABEF to support the Center for Vocational Training of Justice in the organization of other classical courses or conferences-debates on other issues in all jurisdictions of the Courts of Appeal.
The issues mentioned are the execution of contracts, the resolution of the merchant’s insolvency, the protection of minority investors, the transfer of ownership, electronic trade and the protection of consumers.
ABEF Chairman Audace Bukuru said that the latter has allocated 105 million BIF to that activity of which 25 million were allocated to the partial financing of the retreat on the Estates General of Commercial Justice.
