BUBANZA March 9th (ABP) – Film production houses and teacher shortages are likely to affect the success rate in some schools in Bubanza province (northwestern Burundi), according to the provincial administration of Education (DPE).
Those houses are mainly reported in Mutimbuzi commune of Bujumbura province, bordering Rugazi and Mpanda communes, and in some localities of Mpanda commune such as Musenyi where students often skip school to spend all day watching movies.
At the level of the DPE, the officials request the involvement of the provincial and communal administration to discourage and close the said houses. As for the insufficiency of the teachers, of the approximately 355 teachers who are missing and 83 who left for other services, the Ministry in charge of the Public Service in collaboration with the one of Education, promised the only 54 teachers, including eight of the D6 level, 23 of the D7 level, eight of the graduate level, and 15 of the ENS3 level, said the same source. But the DPE authorities request the increase of that number of teachers to hire.
The governor of Bubanza province, Mr. Tharcisse Niyongabo, asked the communal officials to demand the closure of all the film production houses. He promised to approach the governor of Bujumbura for those of the Mutimbuzi commune.
