RUMONGE August 30th (ABP) – The Burundi Head of State, Major General Evariste Ndayishimiye paid a visit to Rumonge province (southwest) on Thursday August 27, 2020, where he carried out the inauguration various infrastructures, including the building housing an agency of the Military Self-Development Savings and Credit Cooperative (CECADM), the Galaxy hotel and the “Humura” family and community development center.
After inaugurating those infrastructures, the President of the Republic held a meeting for the heads of decentralized services of Rumonge province. According to the deputy spokesperson for the President of the Republic, Mr. Alain Diomède Nzeyimana, the Head of State explained to the heads of the decentralized services what the responsible state and the worker state mean. He invited them to go to work because they are the commanders of the country’s development at the provincial level.
After that meeting, the Head of State went to the Rumonge stadium to proceed with the investiture of the new governor of Rumonge province, Mr. Consolateur Nitunga. In his welcoming speech, the governor of Rumonge province indicated that there are cases of insecurity here and there and urged everyone to get involved so that this problem is resolved. However, the governor of Rumonge province said the administration is working to support development projects. He cited, for instance, the ongoing construction of a modern slaughterhouse in Mutambara and two clinics in the Gatete zone. He took the same opportunity to ask the government to help build the provincial office.
For those projects to be carried out, the Head of State invited all Burundians to change their mentalities, in order to unite and form a battalion of skirmishers. Administrative officials, he recommended, must fight against corruption and economic malfeasance, which is why suggestion boxes have been set up in all communes, with the aim of making it easier for the people to denounce abuses of administrative officials.
As a thank you for his visit to Rumonge province, the CECADM offered the President of the Republic a gift of a heifer
