BUJUMBURA April 30th (ABP) – The independent presidential candidate of May 20, 2020, Mr. Francis Rohero, officially launched his election campaign on Tuesday April 28 in the city of Bujumbura.
Guaranteeing dignity for all Burundians and everyone living in Burundi was the key word in all the speeches, animation and songs at the ground commonly known as “Tempête” located near Lake Tanganyika, in the Kabondo neighborhood of Mukaza commune.
The different speakers explained what they call a good policy for Burundi and Burundians. It must be based on the implementation of programs centered on the concerns and interest of the inhabitants, the independence of the leader, his self-giving, his capacity to serve others and not to serve himself. Good country policy must put an end to the phenomenon observed in certain people of monopolizing the national cake and goods without sharing with their fellow citizens.
For Mr. Rohero, a good leader is the one who guarantees dignity to all the inhabitants, who finds solutions to all their problems and who realizes their dreams. He called on all Burundians of voting age to respond massively to the May 20 meeting and to elect him to the high office of the Head of State so that he can carry out his project for a society to guarantee the dignity of everybody. A leader who does not care about the medical care of any citizen, the education of any child, who does not know that the students need a scholarship to make university studies in good conditions does not have the qualities to run Burundi.
“If I win the May 20 presidential election, I will cut the scholarship loans. A parent cannot ask the child to reimburse the education costs he paid for him. I want to end bicycle taxis. It’s a suicide job because at 35, they are no longer able to lift a bucket of water to wash. The bicycle is not a means of transport. It is a leisure tool. Those who carry out transport on bicycles will be approved to access the motorcycle credits which they will be able to repay over a 10 month period. It’s a shame that people are asked to buy driver’s licenses when they finish learning to drive a motorcycle or vehicle. Yet the country is not asking those who finish their studies to buy diplomas, “said Rohero.
He strongly criticized the membership of professional groups in political parties instead of forming unions.
Regarding the very high unemployment rate, once elected, the independent candidate promises to promote job creation. He promises to redevelop the city of Bujumbura, which is over 100 years old and has a population of around one million, many of whom are unemployed. He noted that all Burundians are taxpayers because every time they drink beer, lemonade, tobacco, the price includes tax. He said the bulk of the tax will be put into actions to boost production, automatically creating jobs.
Some of the workers will work in town planning. He plans to build a central station at the old central market in Bujumbura, to rehabilitate the tarmac roads in the city of Bujumbura, the dirt roads in the interior of the country. To counteract erosion, provision is made for erosion control hedges, the multiplication of fodder plants and the development of rainwater retention pools to regulate their flow.
Public landfill facilities will be installed around the city of Bujumbura in order to transport the city’s food and household waste there in order to build up the organic manure that farmers need. According to Mr. Rohero, household waste is an asset.
On the subject of security, Mr. Rohero promises to put an end to the numerous searches in the households observed today, to guarantee the dignity of the defense and security forces and to develop understanding between the police and the people.
