BUJUMBURA April 30th (ABP) – CNDD-FDD candidate for the presidential election of May 20, Major General Evariste Ndayishimiye, continued his election campaign on the airfield late Tuesday afternoon from the Yoba district of the political capital of Gitega (center), where he was welcomed in an enthusiastic atmosphere, animated by a large crowd of militants of this party and members of other parties allied to the CNDD-FDD, through their songs and dances, a check on the site by ABP has revealed. The militant women of the same party had put away several loincloths, serving as a carpet for the presidential candidate, to show their favorable reception.
Upon his arrival at the campaign site, the candidate president of the CNDD-FDD party was welcomed by the provincial secretary of this party, Mr. Georges Nshimirimana as well as certain representatives of the governing bodies of this ruling party. In his welcoming address, Mr. Nshimirimana thanked God who guided the presidential candidate to that place of the meeting and for the climate of peace that marked that day, in the morning.
In his speech, Major General Evariste Ndayishimiye who is a native of Gitega province invited the entire population to give thanks to God who granted their requests during the crusades of prayers held regularly at this place. Among those benefits, he cited among other things the fixing of the political capital of Burundi in Gitega, the Temple of God under construction, the choice of the candidate president of the CNND-FDD native of that province. To preserve and build on those gains, the presidential candidate has invited the people of that province to strengthen unity and social cohesion, regardless of their ideological, ethnic, religious or other diversity. That will allow them to work in synergy of actions in the fight against poverty, one of the priority programs of the CNDD-FDD party. The same people was invited to serve as a model for the rest of the people in carrying out the country’s development programs. To be able to carry out those social projects, he called on this population to vote overwhelmingly for the CNDD-FDD candidate.
In Bujumbura City Council, the communal secretary of the CNDD-FDD party, Mr. Benjamin Ndagijimana launched on Tuesday April 29, 2020 at Nyabagere Conference in Ntahangwa commune, the activities of this party’s electoral campaign in Bujumbura City Council, a check on the site by ABP has revealed.
The ceremonies began with dances and songs praising the CNDD-FDD party, the President of the Republic of Burundi, Mr. Pierre Nkurunziza and the projects he developed during his mandate as well as the presidential candidate of May 20 next, Major General Evariste Ndayishimiye with the slogan he puts forward “Together, everything is possible” (Turi kumwe twese, birashoboka).
Mr. Ndagijimana subsequently expressed his satisfaction towards President Nkurunziza for his various development projects initiated in Burundi, during his mandate, including the strengthening of peace and security, the construction of economic and social infrastructures and the reconciliation which made the Burundian people unite in their diversity. He also listed the supervision of unemployed young people by encouraging them to create their development projects, the creation of an investment bank for young people in Gitega (BIJE), the granting of a credit of 10 million to each district or each census village for the various cooperative development projects, free care for pregnant women and children under 5, schooling and others.
According to the provincial secretary, the presidential candidate Evariste Ndayishimiye will continue these development projects such as free care for pregnant women and children under 5 years old, construction and rehabilitation of roads, the establishment of a law governing domestic workers and so forth.
He took that opportunity to present to the Bagumyabanga who were present, the 12 candidate deputies of the Bujumbura City Council before inviting all the Bagumyabanga to participate massively in the next elections and to vote well to avoid null votes or abstentions.
He ended that session by teaching the Bagumyabanga how to vote by showing them the distinctive signs of the CNDD-FDD party that are on the ballot, compared to the other parties.
Previously, the communal secretary of the party in Ntahangwa commune had welcomed all those who came to participate in this electoral campaign, signaling that the commune has many Bagumyabanga who love the CNDD-FDD party, given the many development projects that this party performed in different areas, including construction of roads, schools, water and electricity connection and others.
In Cankuzo province (east), various political parties organized Tuesday April 28, propaganda activities in different communes, the CNDD-FDD having started in Gisagara commune in Bumba village, a check on the site by ABP has revealed.
Some residents of the Cankuzo province contacted by the ABP want the winners to highlight the asphalting of the national road connecting that province to Tanzania, the consolidation of peace and security as well as the increase in production.
In Bubanza province (north-west), the Bagumyabanga of the CNDD-FDD party from all 5 communes gathered on Tuesday April 28 at the provincial capital for the launch of their party’s electoral campaign, a were we found on the spot.
The provincial secretary of this party, Mr. Alexandre Ngoragoza, after having presented the candidate deputies and communal councilors, recommended them to organize trips in their respective communes, to mobilize the inhabitants to vote for the candidates of the CNDD-FDD party. He promised cell phones to the party’s hill officials to exchange information during this election campaign and on election day.
As for the representative of the deputy candidates, Mr. Côme Manirakiza currently Minister of Hydraulics, Energy and Mines, he reviewed the development projects which await their involvement for the implementation in particular of the electrification of the Communal center of Rugazi and Ruvumvu hill in Bubanza commune, construction of the irrigation dam in Kajeke, the Muyebe hydroelectric dam, the bridge over the Mpanda river and the modern stadium in the headquarters of the province, the adduction of drinking water in Rugeyo of Musigati commune and others.
Note that this launching of the electoral campaign of that party in Bubanza province was started by a parade of about one kilometer executed by the members of the youth and women leagues affiliated to that party in party dress.
Note that handwashing devices were installed at the entrance to the stadium in order to prevent the Coronavirus pandemic.
In Kayanza province (north), the launching ceremonies of the electoral campaign began with a long parade which started at the locality called “Ku Rubaho” to drive the members of the CNDD-FDD party from all the communes of Kayanza , in Gatwaro very close to the cattle market. In his introductory speech, the communal secretary of the said party, Mr. Désiré Hatungimana said that this campaign comes at a time when the party is doing well, the proof being that the CNDD-FDD party in Kayanza continues to welcome new members. He further testified that peace, security and development are a reality in all communities.
Speaking in turn, the provincial secretary of the CNDD-FDD party in Kayanza, Mr. Ferdinand Habimana returned to the social projects put forward by their party and said that they will cover all sectors of national life. Those projects will focus on the agro-pastoral sector, he explained, adding that this sector supports the majority of the Burundian people.
He urged the Bagumyabanga to roll up their sleeves and avoid any attempt to assault or provoke other political parties, but rather to show love and unity in order to incite their opponents to join the party CNDD-FDD. Mr. Habimana also asked CNDD-FDD members in Kayanza province to familiarize themselves with the use of the ballot to avoid void votes and abstentions on May 20.
He said that there are members of other political parties who saw fit to vote for the CNDD-FDD party, from which he recommended explaining the use of the ballot, without any discrimination, before presenting to Bagumyabanga, the deputy candidates and the candidate members of the Kayanza communal council so that they can vote for them knowingly.
Present at those ceremonies were the parliamentarians elected in the constituency of Kayanza, the Burundi ombudsman Mr. Edouard Nduwimana, the provincial governor and other senior officials from the Kayanza province residing or working in different provinces of the country. Note that 1,309 new members of the Kayanza commune were welcomed into the CNDD-FDD, including 1,164 from the CNL, 85 from Sahwanya FRODEBU, while the rest of those new members come from the UPRONA and CNDD parties.
In Muyinga (northeast), the provincial secretary of the CNDD-FDD party, Mr. Cyprien Sinzotuma, in the Muyinga zone, was invited on Wednesday, on the third day of the opening of the presidential, legislative and communal election campaign, the Bagumyabanga to vote for the eagle party society project. Mr. Sinzotuma first gave the audience the profile of Major General Evariste Ndayishimiye, then his project for society and finally presented the candidates for the legislative elections. The provincial secretary thanked the communal leaders of the said party and the campaign team in Muyinga commune. He did not forget to congratulate the candidates for the legislative among which, Mrs. Aline Manirabarusha, the provincial governor. It was also an opportunity to show the audience the different stages of handling the voter card.
