BUJUMBURA July 8th (ABP) – The local NGO “Giriyuja” has been developing activities since the beginning of June 2020 in connection with the fight against the spread of Covid-19 in vulnerable and at risk children, according to the national coordinator of that organization, Mr. Aimable Barandagiye.
Indeed, he said, those activities fall within the framework of the execution of the project “Prevention, preparation and responses to the Covid-19 pandemic for children at risk in the communes of Ntahangwa, Muha and Mukaza of the Bujumbura City Council.
Those activities include the installation of handwashing kits, raising children’s awareness of the measures and barriers against Covid-19, and emergency support for children who fall ill.
The project also provides responses for street children in the event of confinement.
That project, which is funded by the “Men’s land” Foundation is being executed for three months in three “Giriyuja” training centers, namely Kabondo, Kanyosha and Buterere, said Mr. Barandagiye.
In addition, he said, it is expected that this project will reach at least 1,500 children in those three centers.
