BUJUMBURA August 23rd (ABP) – The family of bloggers from Burundi “la plume” held a debate on leadership and entrepreneurship in Burundi on Thursday, August 20 in the premises of the University of Lake Tanganyika, a check on the site by the ABP has revealed.

The debate was moderated by the association’s coordinator Mr. Cyriaque Ntaconzoba, who first of all informed that the association is made up of students from different universities in the country. He explained to the participants the challenges, obstacles, threats faced by young people and asks everyone to contribute to get out of them.

The entrepreneur Pacifique Cubahiro, journalist for radio Isanganiro at the same time founder of the marketing communication agency “Umuranzi” explained that many young Burundians and even in Africa have developed the mentality of eternal assistance. That means that they do not know how to take charge of their problems and wait for everything to be done for them. However, the aid or assistance makes the recipient irresponsible, deprived of all initiative.

He explained to the participants his journey to reach his destination and calls on the young people to fight with all their energy to achieve tangible success. Mr. Cubahiro asks the Burundian youth to stand up, to expose their experiences, to dare to do, to create, to seek opportunities, to be active from time to time, to orient themselves in different areas because, there are no opportunities to be picked up. According to him, entrepreneurship is a struggle that must be nurtured every day.

According to Monia Wakana, coordinator of the Center for Economic Development (CDE), young people want to get out of this poverty that encloses them by seeking employment here and there instead of contributing their efforts and orienting their knowledge. She was aware that the barriers are there, but everything can be learned. She praised the government’s initiative to set up the Youth Investment Bank which will usefully occupy and reduce youth unemployment.
