BUJUMBURA September 22rd (ABP) – The Vice President of the Republic of Burundi, Mr. Prosper Bazombanza, received in audience on Tuesday September 22, 2020, Mrs. Eunice Reddick, interim chargé d’affaires at the Embassy of the United States of America in Burundi, who came to pay him a courtesy visit.
According to Mrs. Reddick, Mr. Bazombanza said they discussed the relationship between the two countries, strengthening cooperation between the two countries through the maintenance of peace and security, as well as economic development. They also discussed the coronavirus pandemic and agreed to remain vigilant because it is a global scourge. Regarding security, the Vice President of the Republic affirmed that Burundi already has experiences in the maintenance of peace and security. He pointed out that the interim chargé d’affaires congratulated the government of Burundi for having organized credible and transparent elections. Mrs. Reddick also admired the step already taken in the repatriation of Burundian refugees and pledged the support of her country in this area, through UNHCR and in close collaboration with the government of Burundi, Bazombanza said. In addition, the Vice President of the Republic asked his visitor to kindly support the Burundi national development program designed for ten years, from 2018 to 2027. Mrs. Reddick promised that her country will support Burundi in the implementation of many projects for the well-being of Burundi and the United States of America.
