MUYINGA April 10th (ABP) – The Burundi Senate President, Mr. Révérien Ndikuriyo, on Wednesday called on representatives of the people in all sectors of socio-professional life in Muyinga province (northeastern Burundi) to change their mentality in order to develop the country.
“You must have a long-term vision for your life and that of your offspring,” he advised.
Mr. Ndikuriyo has sensitized couples to control births and fight against unwanted pregnancies in schools. He deplored the case of teachers who make their pupils pregnant, where in certain situations, an educator alone can be the author of more than ten pregnancies in a single institution.
Speaking of development, he called on the people to combine efforts to work in synergy to achieve tangible results. To achieve that, he suggested, Burundians must work for national harmony and deal with the real concerns of the moment.
He recommended the people to fight against COVID-19 by rigorously observing the hygiene measures ordered by the Ministry of Public Health and the Fight against AIDS.
In their speeches, the participants expressed satisfaction with the lessons given by the Senate President. An officer of the National Defense Force of Burundi (FDNB) wanted to know why the price of fuel at the pump does not decrease while on the international market, the price of a barrel is said to have dropped by 50%.
At this intervention, the president of the Senate has recognized that the price per barrel has dropped but, he said, where the Burundian tankers get their supplies, the prices have remained the same. “
