The Head of State has laid the foundation stone for water retention dam in Nyamuyaga

KARUSI July 30th (ABP) – Burundi President Evariste Ndayishimiye launched on Tuesday July 28, 2020 the construction of a water retention dam in Nyamuyaga village of Gihogazi commune. He was accompanied by the Minister who has agriculture in his attributions, the parliamentarians of the constituency and the provincial governor, Mrs. Calinie Mbarushimana, a check on the site by the ABP has revealed.

The launch came after a visit by President Ndayishimiye to fields spanning more than 10 ha. He said he was pleased to see that the people of Nyamuyaga are taking advantage of the local streams to irrigate their fields of vegetables and peas. He promised those farmers material and moral support.

The descent of the President of the Republic had a goal of encouragement and congratulation.

He let it be known that he had just discovered their needs. He recommended to them the creation of agricultural cooperatives in order to produce more and thus gain a market and build crop processing factories on the site.
