RUTANA / RUYIGI August 14th (ABP) – The President of the Republic of Burundi, Mr. Evariste Ndayishimiye, presented the new governors of Rutana and Ruyigi provinces, respectively on August 12 and 13, 2020, a check on the site by the ABP has revealed.

The new governor of Rutana province, Mr. Olivier Nibitanga, was presented during a visit that President Evariste Ndayishimiye made on Thursday in that province, where he also inaugurated the Bihahe Basic School, built by the people with the support of the NGO World Vision.

The activities marking the visit of the President of the Republic to Rutana province began with a meeting, behind the closed doors, for the benefit of the provincial officials, the security officials and the elected MPs in the Rutana constituency.

In his welcoming speech, the governor of the province said security is good on all 161 villages in the province.

He requested the intervention of the President of the Republic so that the RN8 connecting the province of Gitega to that of Rutana should be rehabilitated before it is late.

The governor also pleaded for the rehabilitation of the urban road network of Rutana. It is the same for the RN11 connecting Giharo to Cendajuru in Cankuzo province which, once paved, would be of great economic importance for the people of the Mosso region.

The Bihahe Basic School was built in Maramvya village, in Rutana commune. It has 9 classrooms, a management office, a multipurpose room and 3 blocks of latrines.

The President of the Republic praised the actions of the NGO World Vision which continued to work at a time when certain other NGOs had preferred to close, from the moment when the government had decided to inquire about the funds used and their management.

He said that after the election fever, it is high time to get down to work to develop the country.

He also winked at the officials, so that they would work hard to develop the nation. Anyone who does not work will be considered incapable and put back in a place that suits them, according to President Ndayishimiye.

In Ruyigi, the new governor of Ruyigi province, Mrs. Emérencienne Tabu, was presented on Wednesday August 12, 2020 during a visit by the president to Ruyigi province, during which he met the heads of the various state services working in that province.

That visit was also an opportunity to inaugurate various newly built state infrastructures in the headquarters of the province and its surroundings.

During the governor’s presentation ceremony, President Ndayishimiye called on the people to respect and follow their governor. He stressed that whoever rebels against the governor will have rebelled against the President she represents and even against God who established them in their respective offices.

He especially insisted on the fact that development must be manifested in all sectors of the country’s life. He said the time for positive quantitative and qualitative results without red herring has come, adding that the impostors have no place in Burundi.

The activities related to the descent in Ruyigi began with a closed-door meeting between President Ndayishimiye and heads of state services working throughout the province.

The president’s spokesperson, Mr. Jean-Claude Karerwa Ndenzako, told the press, at the end of that meeting, that the message of his excellence to those leaders in the different sectors of the life of the province was mainly centered on the reminder of the slogan and the creed of the current “responsible and hard-working government”.

He said that after listening to the welcoming speech presented by the governor of the province, the Head of State said he was satisfied with the level already reached by the province of Ruyigi in terms of good governance, democracy and socio-economic development.

According to Mr. Karerwa Ndenzako, President Ndayishimiye has also expressed optimism about what remains to be done. He explained to all those provincial officials the need to understand their respective specifications, recalling that the time for people who show up for service and return without having completed their tasks is over. The same goes for lazy people and profiteers of all kinds.

After that meeting, the President of the Republic went to the Ruyigi district hospital where he proceeded to the opening of a modern and regional laboratory recently built to accommodate the people of the whole province of Ruyigi, those neighboring provinces and neighboring countries.

President Ndayishimiye was accompanied by 4 ministers, namely the Minister of Interior, Community Development and Public Security, Chief Police Commissioner Gervais Ndirakobuca, Minister of Environment, Agriculture and breeding, Mr. Déo Guide Rurema, the Minister of Communication, Information Technologies and Media, Mrs. Marie Chantal Nijimbere as well as the Minister of Trade, Transport, Industry and Tourism, Mrs. Immaculée Ndabaneze.
