GITEGA June 7th (ABP) – The President of the Republic of Burundi, Mr. Pierre Nkurunziza, chaired the Cabinet meeting at the presidential palace of Gitega, in Gitega commune and province (central Burundi), the political capital of the country, on Wednesday June 5, 2019.

Eight items were on the agenda, according to a statement issued by the General Secretary of the Government.

The first item developed by the Minister of Public Security and Disaster Management related to the strategic planning documents of the Ministry of Public Security and Disaster Management.

Those documents are made of a letter of the 2018-2022 general policy, on the one hand; and a 2018-2022 strategic plan and its operational plan, on the other hand.

The 2nd and 3rd items presented by the Minister of Justice, Civil Protection and Seals Control respectively concerned the organic bill revising Law No. 1/07 of February 25, 2005 governing the Supreme Court and the organic bill on the organization and the functioning of the Constitutional Court and the procedure applicable to it.

In turn, the Minister of the Public Service, Labor and Employment developed the 4th and 5th items relating respectively to the decree bill on the organization of labor inspection and social security and to the joint ministerial ordinance bill amending Ministerial Ordinance No. 570/540/369 of June 22, 1999 setting the terms and conditions for granting funeral expenses to those entitled of deceased civil servant.

The Minister of Finance, the Budget and the Economic Development Cooperation developed two presentations relating respectively to the inquiry report on the implementation of the government’s vehicle reduction policy and the Note on the project of construction and operation of Bujumbura international congress center.

The last item developed by the Minister of Hydraulics, Energy and Mines concerned the project for the development, construction, operation and transfer of two power plants in cascades with a total installed capacity of 16 MW on the Kirasa River.
