The consumption of herbal teas and artemisia boosts immunity

BUJUMBURA June 10th (ABP) – The director and promoter of natural products of the Consultative Agency in Ethics of International Cooperation (ACECI), Mrs. Ginette Karirekinyana held a press conference on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 in Bujumbura importance of the consumption of herbal teas and artemisia and other ACECI products.

Mrs. Karirekinyana affirmed that ACECI works in close collaboration with the government through the “Ewe Burundi urambaye” project and the Ministry of Health by promoting natural plant-based products. She also reported that in recent times, there has been an influx of Burundians towards the consumption of herbal teas.

She explained that herbal teas serve to strengthen the body’s immunity and also serve as dietary supplements and maintain the health of the person.

She said that her organization “karire products” works as a preventive measure, stressing that artemisia is one of the plants that she promotes.

That plant prevents malaria, according to Mrs. Karirekinyana, kills parasites, cleanses and detoxifies the body.

She also says that people have changed their behavior, that they are learning the importance of herbal teas, which is good for health.

Mrs. Karirekinyana also indicated that the affluence of people to consume herbal teas and artemisia calls on them to increase production. She added that this plant is popularized in all provinces except Makamba.

She calls on the government to support the popularization of artemisia and other accessible plants that are used to prevent disease. The advantage of those plants is that they can be grown at home on both a small and a large scale.

She recalled that malaria kills more than other diseases, that is why it is important to focus efforts on this disease.
