Francine Niyonsaba Gold Medalist paid a visit to patients at Prince Régent Charles hospital

BUJUMBURA March 12th (ABP) – Burundian Francine Niyonsaba, gold medalist at the last World Athletics Championships in Birmingham, England, on the 800 meter women, paid a visit on Friday March 9, 2018 in the afternoon, to the sick and nurses at Prince Régent Charles hospital. She said that in Burundian custom, when someone visits his friends, he brings some gifts. Thus, with the support of BRARUDI, “Viva Malt” branch, she brought to those patients rice, beans, sugar and soaps. One hundred patients considered more vulnerable than others were targeted and each had 10 kg of rice, 10 kg of beans, 5 kg of sugar and 5 soaps.
To make her choice at this hospital, Francine Niyonsaba confessed her sympathy towards this hospital which dates from a long time. One day, she remembered, while she, her team of athletes and other officials were going to Bujumbura from Gitega, they had an accident at Bugarama. There have been deaths and injuries, she said. On that day, she was impressed by the professionalism and dedication shown by the hospital’s caregivers, welcoming the dead and wounded, which made her a pleasure for her to help the sick at that hospital.
