GITEGA January 22nd (ABP) – The Minister of the Environment, Agriculture and Livestock, Mr. Déo Guide Rurema and the Minister of the Interior, Patriotic Education and Local Development, Mr. Pascal Barandagiye, call on provincial governors and communal administrators of Burundi as well as the actors in the environment sector, to reinforce their synergy of actions through the coaching of the people to the installation of anti-erosive devices in the land properties. They also recommended the implementation of the law prohibiting the planting of trees that consume a lot of water in the water source-protection areas. Those appeals were launched in Gitega (center) on Monday, during a meeting of the two ministers for governors, communal administrators and senior executives of those ministries at the Bukirasazi Kida Hotel.

The two ministers also invited provincial governors and communal administrators as well as stakeholders in the environment and agriculture sector to follow up on upcoming multi-local trials of organo-mineral fertilizers produced by a new operational plant in Mutimbuzi Commune of Bujumbura Rural Province.
